Financing the Future: How MSMEs Can Power Ghana’s Industrialization Agenda Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of Ghana’s economy. They account for more than 70 percent of all businesses and employ close to 80 percent of the workforce. From smallholder farmers processing cocoa to young entrepreneurs running tech start-ups, MSMEs are everywhere, powering livelihoods and innovation. Yet for all their importance, MSMEs remain the weakest link in Ghana’s industrialization agenda. Their biggest obstacle is not a lack of ideas, but a lack of finance.
