Rodri's Ballon d'Or Ambition: A Dream and a Source of Pride
Manchester City midfielder Rodri has opened up about his aspirations to win the Ballon d'Or, an honor he considers a "dream" and a "source of pride." In an interview with ESPN's Mark Ogden, Rodri expressed his humility and surprise at being mentioned alongside the world's best players.
Rodri acknowledged the impressive achievements of Spanish legends like Andres Iniesta and Xavi, who never won the Ballon d'Or despite their incredible contributions to the sport. He recognized that they played in an era dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, making individual accolades more challenging to attain.
The Spanish international emphasized that winning the Ballon d'Or would be a triumph not just for him but also for his country. He shared that people's belief in his ability to be the best player in the world is a tremendous motivator, saying, "People believe I can be the best player in the world, and telling me these things, it's incredible… I've never dreamt about this to be honest!"
Rodri's candid remarks showcase his dedication, passion, and gratitude for the support he receives. As he continues to excel on the pitch, his name will likely remain in the conversation for the Ballon d'Or, inspiring him to reach new heights and make his dreams a reality.
